Who is your hero?
MB: My mommy and dad and my teammate Ross Martin.
DM: My brother for sure #837 and my Grandpa Mengo.
How did you get into snocross?
MB: Well my father and Ed Schubitzke used to race back in the day and one day they came to me and asked if I wanted to try racing and I was hooked ever since!
DM: My Dad got me and my brother racing motocross when we were young. Ross wanted to try sleds so we got 2 and raced locally a few races and at the time Ross worked for Goodwin Performance and one of the mechanics wanted to take us to a National in Valcourt so we went and it took off from there (that was the race DJ Eckstrom got injured and Ross filled in on Scheuring’s Polaris team in pro).
What type of training do you do?
MB: I do a little bit of everything - mountain biking, weights, running and some top secret stuff!!
DM: Weight training, yoga (ask Drew ha ha), bicycling, running, motocross.
One thing you always take with you to the races?
MB: Odor eaters cause my feet stink!
DM: My truck, my girlfriend and my team.
Do you have an occupation outside of racing?
MB: I work on my families beef ranch and help my father with his construction company when he needs help so I am always busy!
DM: Not currently.
How many siblings do you have?
MB: 1 sister-Becca.
DM: 1 - #837.
How old were you when you started racing?
MB: 10.
DM: Motocross 9, snocross 15.
Funniest race related story?
MB: Oh man there are so many-just ask anyone in the Judnick trailer. But I would say one of the funnier ones was at Canterbury this year. In the parade lap before the final I turned around to look at the track behind me, not realizing that I was on a berm going into the gravity cavity and rolled the sled down into the cavity. That is just classic!
DM: I probably shouldn’t say it was at Canterbury National and had to do with a track official and got in trouble. Certain people know what I’m talking about (ha ha that was the old Dylan).
Name something people don’t know about you?
MB: My nickname is Farmer cause I have a tendency to be a little sloppy in the trailer! But I am working on it Ross!
DM: I’m independent and can always handle being alone.
One sport you would never try?
MB: Basketball-I can't dribble and run down the court at the same time!
DM: There are many sports I would never try.
Best place on earth?
MB: Victory lane.
DM: Up in the North woods or out West in the mountains.
Worst place on earth?
MB: Emergency room.
DM: Valcourt.
Most annoying thing about you?
MB: Have trouble staying on task and sometimes my mouth gets moving a mile a minute but my brain don’t put out any words!
DM: Indecisive.
Whose name do you dread seeing in your heat?
MB: No one. I just focus on winning.
DM: Don’t care.
One place you’ve never been but would like to visit?
MB: Hawaii.
DM: Australia.
What advice would you give young riders?
MB: Give 150% and have fun. That's what will keep you driving to win!
DM: Just keep a straight head and always set goals to achieve. Never let anyone bring you down.
Favorite track?
MB: Duluth and New Hampshire.
DM: Duluth.
Who has influenced your career most?
MB: There are so many people-my parents, my teammates Ross and Matt and the whole Judnick Team and my buddy Scott!
DM: My brother, grandpa Mengo, Dad and Scott Judnick.
How did you pick your number?
MB: My birthday is July 17 and so I just went with 717!
DM: Well me and Ross were both 37 and we needed 3 digit, so I went with 937 and he went with 837.
Favorite quote?
MB: Winning isn't everything but the will to win is everything -Vince Lombardi.
DM: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.
Besides preparing your sled, what other connection do you and your mechanic have that would be hard to replace with just anyone?
MB: Our ability to talk on and off the track.
DM: I have been blessed in my career with 2 of the best mechanics (Tom Rager Jr. and Spencer Kadlec). The connection was irreplaceable. I always felt safe and knew my sleds would make it to the start and finish line! (Confidence).
Sleep – is it overrated? How many hours do you need a night?
MB: Sleep is not over rated - I need at least 8 hours of sleep.
DM: Not overrated. I need at least 8 hours.
What makes you crabby?
MB: Nothing really-just crashing in a heat race when I have a huge lead, losing races and bets.
DM: Being tired and negative people.
Do you have any pets?
MB: 1 dog named Shadow.
DM: My Mom has a golden lab Shady and Ross has a black german shepard Kali.
What would you do if you weren’t a snox racer?
MB: I would work in the construction industry and buy a stock car and go racing. I love racing!
DM: Race motocross.
If you were to volunteer your time or money to a charity, which one would it be?
MB: A charity that deals with cancer research and cures because it is a terrible disease that nobody should have to go through.
DM: Not really sure. Probably help kids with a disability.
Gifts – would you rather give or receive?
MB: Both.
DM: I love the feeling of giving and making people happy and receiving isn’t bad either!
